Ice Fishing
Stingers make great search lures for finding active fish. Once a school is located, slower moving precision baits can be used to catch even more fish. Load up a size 12 Stinger with 6 or more spikes when fishing for panfish. Vary your depths because fish can often be anywhere from flat on the bottom to an inch below the ice!
The sizes 8 and 4 are great for walleye and other gamefish when using a minnow head, fish eyes or a whole minnow. One very productive jigging technique is to drop your Stinger to the bottom, reel up the slack line, snap your rod tip up one to two feet then slowly set the Stinger fall back to 6 inches off bottom. Wait, jiggle and repeat. This technique works great for both perch and walleye.

Open Water
Stingers can be cast and retrieved with a slight hopping motion, but are most effective when vertically jigged. Minnows, minnow heads worms and especially spikes are all great bait choices. Stingers work well for suspended panfish during the summer months when the thermocline develops and fish hang 15-20 feet deep over 40 feet or more.
